Chiropractic

01. What is Gonstead Chiropractic?
Gonstead Chiropractic care is a very advanced form of adjusting the spine with a very strong emphasis on providing the adjustment to only the segment of the spine that is causing the dysfunction. Before any adjustment is provided the need for the adjustment is quantified with five very specific criteria. One of the five criteria is an advanced x-ray analysis done by the Gonstead practioner. The x-ray analysis is not only designed to rule out abnormalities including fractures but it is also used as a tool similar to the way an architect uses a blueprint. The Gonstead practioner will analyze the x-ray and determine which angle, direction, torque and force is needed to achieve maximum correction of your problem. Another tool that is used by a Gonstead practitioner is called a "nervoscope". This instrument has been used for over 50 years and has stood the test of time. This instrument helps give the doctor an objective tool to assist in locating the EXACT location of your problem.

Due to the power of a Gonstead Chiropractic adjustment and the specific nature of adjustment there is great potential for your body to create healing with conditions over and above the musculoskeletal pain syndromes. There is excellent clinic evidence of these adjustments enhancing function of many system of your body that has shown to have affects on many conditions such as headaches, digestive dysfunction, infertility, ADHD and many more. It is important to understand that a Gonstead practitioner does NOT do any healing but they merely remove pressure from a vital nerve in your body allowing your body to heal itself.

02. Do you treat depression or ADHD?
At Health Solutions we treat the person with the disease not just the disease itself. We focus on increasing healthy function. When we help your body to function normally the response is remarkable. It is your body that actually does the healing and eliminates disease. For example, if you have pressure on a nerve going to your bladder and can't control your bowels, we remove pressure on the nerve with an adjustment so the bowels begin to work properly.

If you have multiple food allergies and headaches, we discover your food allergies and eliminate them, causing the headaches to go away. All healing at Health Solutions occurs without the use of medications or surgery.

03. What's a subluxation?
A subluxation is by far the most overlooked health concern facing the American public. A subluxation is the condition of a vertebra that has lost its normal position causing pressure on a nerve. Once the nerve is impinged, dysfunction occurs wherever the nerve supply goes.

This nerve dysfunction can affect muscles, skin, organs, hormones, etc. The reason it's so widely under-diagnosed is that only Doctors of Chiropractic are trained to find and fix subluxations.

04. How long does a chiropractic adjustment take?
After an extensive examination and full spine x-rays are taken, your doctor will spend time analyzing and evaluating this information to confirm the location of the subluxation and the appropriate method of correction.

Once a plan is put together, the actual time it takes to administer the adjustment is minimal. It usually takes just three to five minutes to administer a high-quality chiropractic adjustment. Even though it only takes minutes to give the adjustment the healing affects last hours to days after the adjustment is preformed.

05. Do you accept children for treatment?
Doctors of Health Solutions are trained to see all age groups. Children can be seen as early as the first week of life. This is a crucial time for spinal health due to the intense trauma during birth.

The oldest patient seen by one of our doctors is 101 years old! Special techniques are used for the very young or the elderly.

06. Do you have a nutritionist on staff?
Health Solutions has some of the most advanced nutritional staff available. Although the Health Solutions location in your area may not have nutrition staff on site, all our nutrition programs have been created by a Certified Clinical Nutritionist, Dietician and/or a Board Certified Naturopath. You can rest assure that if you begin a nutritional program at Health Solutions you are receiving an advanced, researched and safe nutritional program.

First Visit

01. What should I expect on my first visit?
On your first visit you will meet the doctor, explain your health concerns or your desire for preventative care and then the doctor will perform a preliminary examination to see if comprehensive chiropractic evaluation is warranted. This preliminary examination is complimentary at all Health Solutions locations. If there is evidence of a subluxation (abnormal spinal nerve function) then a comprehensive chiropractic assessment will be performed. This will usually include an examination and spinal x-rays. The costs of these service will be explained before they are performed. The first day is simply a day to gather data. The following two visits will be designed to give you a report on the findings of the evaluation and then a recommended plan of treatment to correct the problem.

02. How do I schedule an appointment?
There are two ways you can make an appointment in our clinic. You may schedule an appointment on our website or call our office directly. To find the address and phone number of the Health Solutions location nearest you go to our contact page.

03. How long will my treatment be?
The length of time for a treatment plan is based on a number of very important factors. Your doctor will analyze the examination and x-rays that were taken, review the level of degeneration (decay) in the spine, and take into account your lifestyle, job detail, age, weight, and other important factors.

The most time efficient and cost effective care plan will then be created to produce the greatest benefits for your health. As a guideline, a corrective health care plan can range from 6-52 weeks.

04. Will it hurt to have my spine adjusted?
Adjustments actually feel great most of the time. If it's your first time getting an adjustment, the anxiety of a new experience will be most of your discomfort.

If you have very swollen joints, such as those following an accident, an area may be somewhat tender, but our doctors will use special techniques to insure your comfort during these times.
